PEP’s Mike Henshaw sings for his supper at VW India Retail Excellence presentation! August 09, 2017 by Mike Henshaw

The evening of 8th August saw the finale of our first Volkswagen Retail Excellence Program in India.
A wonderful evening and dinner event hosted in Goa by the VW India senior management team, which saw the first intake of delegates receive a certificate acknowledging their considerable efforts over the last year.
The development program was designed to provide coaching for senior Dealer Principals and business owners across a range of operational topics and was warmly received by the team involved over the months of delivery. Multiple classroom-based training was held in India, supported by overseas visits to the UK and Germany to illustrate dealer operations in more developed markets.
On a personal level, I was quite moved to listen to the team offer their views of the program and the impact it had on them. Delegates spoke of the positive changes they have made as a result of the learning, and the measurable business changes they have noted. They also spoke about more personal matters, and particularly how they had grown as individuals and added skills and knowledge that would help them to develop as people and leaders of business.
The pre-dinner entertainment was provided by two local musicians and added to by a couple of songs that I played! I’m not the best singer, but everyone seemed to enjoy a couple of Beatles songs from the UK!
It’s clear that leadership and managing people remain key topics of interest, and areas where changes can be made that show significant benefits. Many examples were offered that showed the learning we shared had been absorbed and utilised. It was
heart-warming to listen to several personal examples of how the program had effected individuals and business performance so positively.
Whilst everyone contributed well throughout the program, two individuals were highlighted with ‘Distinction Certificates’, for outstanding final assessment content. Ajay Argarwal and Ritesh Nayyar received the top awards having demonstrated excellent understanding of the topics covered. It was my pleasure to provide these gentlemen with special certificates acknowledging their considerable achievement.
We look forward to starting a second phase of the program in early 2018 with a new, and equally eager, set of delegates.
